Importance of Values.....

Importance of Values in an Organization/as an Individual
Our values inform our thoughts, words and actions.

Our values are important because they help us to grow, develop and create the future we want to experience. Every individual and every organization is involved in making hundreds of decisions every day. The decisions we make are a reflection of our values and beliefs, and they are always directed towards a specific purpose. That purpose is the satisfaction of our individual or collective (organizational) needs.

When we use our values to make decisions, we make a deliberate choice to focus on what is important to us. When values are shared, they build internal cohesion in a group.

In an organizational setting, there are four types of values:

INDIVIDUAL VALUES – they reflect how you show up in your life and your specific needs - the principles you live by and what you consider important for your self-interest. Individual values include: enthusiasmcreativityhumility and personal fulfillment.

RELATIONSHIP VALUES - they reflect how you relate to other people in your life, be they friends, family or colleagues in your organization. Relationship values include: opennesstrustgenerosity and caring.

Organizational VALUES - reflect how your organization shows up and operates in the world. Organizational values include: financial growthteamworkproductivity and strategic alliances.

SOCIETAL VALUES - reflect how you or your organization relates to society. Societal values include: future generationsenvironmental awarenessecology and sustainability.

Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny.” ― Gandhi

    1. Values are an asset to any society, without which moral Decency becomes a thing of the past. The opposite of value is moral decay which always leads to societal degradation, in terms of how we view different aspects of our lives .

Values describe how we interact with each other .They are principles and qualities that people care about that contribute to driving people's behaviour .Once you value your self you will respect and accommodate others.

  20. I stand for honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treating people the way you want to be treated, and helping those in need. To me those are traditional values.
